What we collect, and what we do with it.

Patriot Tinting is a one-location window tint shop in Hampton, Virginia. This page says plainly what happens to your information when you ask for a price, book, or pay. Last updated October 25, 2026.

What we collect

When you ask for a price. Your first name, cell number, the year, make and model of your vehicle, the windows or service you want, and anything you type in the notes. Last name, email and city are optional.

When you book or pay. The appointment details, your signature on the checkout agreement, and the record of your payment. Card numbers never touch our systems. Payments are handled by Square, and Square's own privacy policy covers the card itself.

When you text or call us. The messages and call records on our business line, so the person helping you can see what was already said.

When you visit this site. Which pages you looked at, how you got here (a Google search, an ad, a link), the kind of device and browser, and a rough location from your network address. This is our own counter, not Google Analytics. It uses no cookies and we never see your name from it. If you came from a Google ad, Google's conversion tag records that the visit led to a quote request; that tag does set a cookie, and Google's privacy policy covers it.

We do not collect anything we do not need. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

How we use it

To price your car, text you the price, schedule and remind you about your appointment, send your receipt and care instructions, ask how it went, and answer when you reach out. We also look at totals, like how many quotes went out this month, to run the shop better.

Texting

When you send the quote form, you agree to receive texts from Patriot Tinting about your quote and your appointment. That includes your price, a follow-up if we have not heard back, appointment confirmations and reminders, your receipt, and a request for a review after the job. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any text and we stop. Reply HELP or call (757) 767-4498 for help. Your consent to texts is not a condition of buying anything.

Who we share it with

Nobody, for money. We never sell or rent your information. We share only with the services that make the shop run: our phone and texting provider, our payment processor (Square), our scheduling and messaging software, Google for ad measurement, and the people who work here. Each of them gets only what they need to do that job.

How long we keep it

Quote, appointment and payment records stay on file so we can honor your warranty and help you later. Website visit records are deleted after six months.

Your choices

Text or call (757) 767-4498, or email [email protected], and ask us to show you what we have, correct it, or delete it. We will do it within 30 days. The one thing we keep after a deletion request is the record of a completed job, because the warranty depends on it. Reply STOP to any text to end texting.

Security

Your information lives on password-protected systems with encrypted connections. Only the people who work here can see it.

Questions

The short answers.

What is the darkest legal tint in Virginia?

On the front two windows, 50% for every vehicle. Behind the front doors, 35% on cars and any shade on SUVs, trucks and vans.

Can I tint my windshield in Virginia?

Not with dark film, except a strip across the top above the AS‑1 line. Clear heat-blocking film on the whole windshield has been legal since 2008 as long as the glass still passes 70% of light.

Is 20% tint legal in Virginia?

Behind the front doors of an SUV, truck or van, yes. On the front two windows of anything, no. On the rear of a car, no, the limit there is 35%.

Can I get pulled over for tint in Virginia?

Not for tint alone. Since March 2021 it is a secondary offense, so an officer needs another reason to stop you first. During that stop the windows can be metered and cited if they are below the limit.

How do I get a medical exemption?

A licensed physician or optometrist signs the DMV authorization form and it is kept with the vehicle. It allows darker side and rear windows. It does not allow a dark windshield.

Will my tint pass inspection?

The inspection station looks at three things: nothing dark on the windshield below the AS‑1 line, the third brake light not covered, and no bubbled or distorted film. A clean install passes. The percentages in the table are a separate matter. Tint has been a secondary offense in Virginia since 2021, so it cannot be the reason for a stop, but it can be metered and cited during a stop for something else. We install the shade you ask for, and the table above tells you where it lands.
